Villa Noise: Bailey support, Keane shaven and Petrov hails Barry
20th Nov 2014
The delegation of Cowboys aces - including record-breaking kicker Bailey - were pictured at the game on the official Hammers Twitter account.
All were shown wearing West Ham scarves, except Villa fanatic Bailey, who clearly was unwilling to offer support for the opposition.
Bailey was revealed as a Villa supporter this summer as he watched the team train in Dallas during the pre-season tour of Texas.
The mild-mannered American Football player, in an AVTV exclusive, told the club's in-house television station that he'd loved the club since a young age - and counted Gareth Barry as his favourite player.
Bailey was delighted to get to see his team in action at Upton Park as they played out a solid 0-0 draw at the in-form London side.
After the game, he was snapped with Jores Okore, himself a huge Cowboys fan - and a fellow wearer of the No.5 jersey.
The Cowboys enjoyed a successful trip to the UK, defeating Jacksonville Jaguars 31-17 at Wembley Stadium.
Halloween may be over this year but the hair-raising antics have just begun for a group of four Villa fans who are taking on their own twist on Movember.
Brits Richard Cowen, Matt Lloyd, Harvey Millar and Canadian Jeremiah Ashukian, who all live and work in the US, are doing 'Beards for Bone Cancer' to raise money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
The football fans are doing this challenge in loving memory of Paul Birch, who lost his fight with the disease in 2009.
They said: "As ardent admirers of Roy Keane and his often-spectacular beard, we will be spending the month of November looking to grow facial hair that emulates the elegance of our No.2.
"We're doing this in support of the Bone Cancer Research Trust and in memory of the blonde dynamo and Villa legend Paul Birch, cruelly taken away from us in early 2009."
This is a brilliant take on a superb challenge - so best of luck guys!
You can follow THEIR PROGRESS.
Villa have had the No.1 Sina Weibo account in Europe over the last month.
That's according to sports digital media agency Sahy Digital Sports, who measured content and engagement from mid-October to mid-November.
Villa came in ahead of No.2 Wolfsburg, No.3 Bayern Munich, No.4 Man Utd and No.5 Inter Milan.
Social Media Executive Rongtian He, who runs our Sina Weibo account, said: "This is great news - and I am delighted that we are No.1 for the month.
"But now is the time to keep working hard to improve and progress."
In other news, Sina Weibo celebrated their one-year anniversary - and they have a healthy 250,000 followers.
Stan Petrov's road back to health has been highlighted this week in a special BBC Sport feature.
In an inspiring video piece, reporters followed the progress of Petrov as he took to the football field once again as part of a Sunday League team.
Petrov was praised for his positive attitude - and the help he gives to fellow leukaemia sufferers through his new Foundation.
I was lucky myself to chat to him this week and the midfield ace was quick to praise a former claret and blue hero for his unerring help in getting him through those dark times with the disease.
He told us: "It's a great honour to have Gareth Barry as a friend. It has been an honour to play with him and to have him there with me and my family during the hardest part of my life.
"He was there side-by-side with me during my illness. He stood by me. That's real friendship. That's what he's about. He was there for me every single minute - and he still is."
Now that is why football is the greatest sport of them all.
Shay Given was in fine form this week for Republic of Ireland as they saw off USA 4-1 in an international friendly in Dublin.
But, back at base, Charles N'Zogbia was putting the boot in on our veteran goalkeeper.
N'Zogbia, taking part in an AVTV Q&A, was quizzed about who has the worst dress sense in the squad.
Without hesitation, the flamboyant winger stated: "Shay Given! His clothes just don't make sense."
