Lewis Kinsella penned a new one-year deal in June 2015 after enjoying an impressive 2014/15 campaign in claret and blue.

The 21-year-old left-back joined Villa from Arsenal as a young academy graduate in 2011 and has progressed through the youth levels.

He went on loan to League Two Luton Town at the back end of 2014/15 to gain crucial experience.

Kinsella joined in training with the first team soon after then boss Tim Sherwood's arrival in February 2015 and the Watford-born defender was in and around the squad for the games against Newcastle and West Brom.

He was an unused sub for games against the Baggies in the FA Cup, Sunderland and Swansea.

He was drafted in on matchdays due to the injuries of recognised left-backs Aly Cissokho and Kieran Richardson.

Kinsella has already enjoyed success with Villa, as part of the winning squad that emerged victorious in the 2013 NextGen Series.

The youth team version of the Champions League was won by Villa as Chelsea were vanquished in the showpiece final.

In 2011/12 he played in all bar one of Villa's first NextGen campaign, which ended at the quarter-finals.

In the group stage, he scored the late winner in a 2-1 victory in Istanbul over Fenerbahce and playing a big part in a 3-0 triumph over the talented Ajax academy.

Kinsella missed most of the following year's group games through injury but went on to establish himself as a key figure in the team that went on to win the competition.

Since then, he's progressed into the U21s and was in and around the first team at the end last season.
